3/11 Sarah was welcomed home yesterday in true style by more than 60,000 people who lined the streets of Great Neck NY. I was at the parade myself, and it was my first trip to Great Neck. The community support was so amazing for Sarah. There were literally pictures of her everywhere you went. I was shocked at how many people were there, since previous news reports had predicted about 30,000 people to show up. As someone who has followed Sarah's career since 1999 (as most of Great Neck has as well, no doubt), it was really wonderful and overwhelming to see the amount of support that Sarah has from not only her own town, but from thousands of people who came to see her from all over. It was a truly happy day, and I just wanted to say Congratulations Great Neck, not only on your own Olympic Champion, but also on throwing such a great celebration and making everyone feel like a part of your own community!!
