10/4 [from Blades on Ice] In the current Blades on Ice newsbrief, Michelle Wojdyla wrote a review about the Hope and Heroes show. Here's what she said about Sarah:
Sarah Hughes debuted her two new competitive programs. On Saturday, she did all five different triple jumps in the "Don Quixote" free program. Her "Vocalise" technical program had just been finished the day before, and she wove her way through the delicate choreography while landing a triple Lutz/double toe combination, triple flip, and high double Axel. The jumps weren't as sharp on Sunday, but that didn't stop Hughes from drawing applause for her spiral sequence that featured an amazingly split Charlotte spiral.
9/30 According to Melissa on the sarahhughes egroup, Sarah is featured in the current issue of Teen People Magazine with a one page interview and a photo!
9/29 [from USFSA] The following is now posted on the USFSA page:
Pensgen, who trains in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., under the direction of Richard Callaghan, is replacing 2000 U.S. bronze medalist Sarah Hughes of Great Neck, N.Y., who withdrew on Wednesday due to illness.
9/28 [from USFSA] On the Keri Lotion preview page, Sarah is no longer listed as Timothy Goebel's partner and has been replaced by Stacey Pensgen. No reason was given for her apparent withdrawal from the competition.
9/26 [from FSWorld] According to this post by *shopper*, Sarah will be competing at the Sears Canadian Open in Hamilton, Ontario; November 30-December 1. I have not been able to find any official announcement about this event, so this is news is still unconfirmed.

All of the money will go to charity (The Hope and Heroes Children's Cancer Fund). So, if you are able, please check it out and place your bid to help out this great cause!! Also, you can see Sarah's new Short Program dress in the photo.
You can also find my review of the Sunday show in the Reviews section of this webpage.
9/24 Sarah performed her two new competitive programs last night at the Hope and Heroes benefit at the Ice House. Here's a small review from Michelle Wojdyla. Thanks Michelle!!!
Sarah did her brand new short program (Vocalise, pink dress with dark blue accent beads done by Tania (Bass)) and long program (Don Quixote, (really beautiful slow part that I'd never heard before) with a striking "sleeveless" read with black dress done by a ballet company. She nailed all her jumps, including, if I remember correctly, all five triples in the long (only combo was triple Lutz/double toe--no second triple). They announced that it was the debut of the programs, and that she had just finished choreographing the short the day before!
9/8 From the current Blades on Ice News Brief:
BOI journalist Rebecca Patrick reports that Sarah Hughes is back on the Ice. 2000 U.S. bronze medalist Sarah Hughes has recovered from her broken wrist, sustained in early summer when she fell while doing back crossovers. Hughes returned to the ice in late August and quickly began practicing her toughest jumps, the triple flip and triple Lutz. She was also concentrating on two of her more spectacular short program requirements: the spiral sequence and spin combination.
The injury had forced Hughes to miss considerable training time and an appearance at the Miracles of Gold show in Lake Placid in mid-August. Her first public performance this season is scheduled to be at the Hope and Heroes benefit shows September 23 and 24 at her home rink, the Ice House in Hackensack, New Jersey.
9/1 Sarah will be competing in the Keri Lotion Figure Skating Challenge in Kennewick, Washington on September 30, 2000. It is a two-member team format and Sarah will be competing with Timothy Goebel.
8/29 There is now a webpage with all of the information for the Hope & Heroes benefit. Click here to visit the site.
